Rhetoric ( 9 - 12 )
Rhetoric School
9TH GRADE TO 12TH GRADE
The Rhetoric School is designed as a youth group cohort aimed at personal and spiritual formation and academic success.
THE STAGES OF CLASSICAL CHRISTIAN EDUCATION
Pedagogy
We employ the classical Christian education pedagogy in our Rhetoric School (9th-12th grades) by sharpening the skills and insights learned in Grammar and Logic Schools through the practice of Rhetoric. In this final stage of classical education, the student hones his or her ability to articulate his or her beliefs and practices as a means of sharpening the orator.
Curriculum
We teach early and often about the honor, respect, and discipline of training that is necessary in order to become an excellent learner. Those who lead the Rhetoric School function in roles of academic disciplinary teachers and pastoral care ministers. Students will learn from experts in the Mathematical Sciences (mathematics, science, logic, International Space Station), Humanities (history, literature, theology, writing, rhetoric), Classical Languages (Latin, Greek), our biblical and spiritual formation seminar, and enrichment courses which may include martial arts, ballet/dance, and youth chorus or drama.
Culture
Our students will be shepherded by those who share their Christian faith and desire to help them think about what their faith means and how to own and defend it. Rhetoric students should expect to engage in healthy debate and academic pursuits that will help them clarify, deepen, and defend their understanding of truth.
