Dear Community--
I love our school's rhythm of working hard and resting well. As we head into this Fall Break, I'm astounded by how quickly these first eight weeks have gone and by how much we've packed in, grown, and stretched.
At the start of the school year, I shared my sense that God was nudging us toward the annual theme of PRESENCE. Each Friday, we open our faculty meeting by sharing moments from the week when we saw God show up in our school. You'd be moved to hear what teachers share. We've seen God at work in students overcoming challenges, in Friday assemblies where the sound of students worshiping fills the auditorium, and through visitors who step into our building and describe feeling a sense of peace. Just this week, a church volunteer work team from Tennessee spent a day helping us with projects around our campus and they brought a glimpse of God's generous kindness. They left promising to keep praying for this special school in the middle of San Francisco.
I loved seeing so many of you this past week as you came in for parent conferences and hearing several share what a relief and gift it is to sense a true partnership with teachers. That, too, is evidence of God's presence here as He's forming our students through parents and staff who are pouring into these young lives-- not just academically-- but emotionally and spiritually.
So I head into this break with much joy and gratitude for the weeks that are behind us, and with much hope and anticipation for what is to come. Please make every effort to join us for this year's first Parent Equipping Night when we'll have a special guest speaker with us. Sara Osborne's book is a profound and insightful look at the beauty of educating from a classical framework. I hope you'll come and that you'll bring friends who might be encouraged by her invitation to slow down and really enjoy these years of tending to the minds and souls of our children.
I also invite you to keep praying for Donum Dei-- this "Gift of God". He's been so faithful and generous and I believe He wants to do even more. During one of our morning prayer times this week, I shared a verse from Isaiah 65:1 with the staff. "The Lord says, 'I was ready to respond, but no one asked for help. I was ready to be found, but no one was looking for me.'" We need your partnership and investment in intentionally seeking God in and for this school and, likewise, to remain faithful in asking Him for the help, provision, and peace only He can provide. He's ready to be found and he's ready to respond! If you are praying specific prayers for us, I'd love to hear about them and share in the delight of watching Him answer.
Whether you are traveling or staying put this coming week, may it replenish you and offer you space to slow down, look for Him, and delight in the truth, goodness, and beauty that comes in experiencing His presence.
Happy Break!
Trisha Mammen
