Psalm 139:14: "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." This week, first graders learned about three parts of the nervous system: the brain, spinal cord, and nerves. Our focus was on the brain, which when we really stop to appreciate it, displays the intricacy of God's handiwork in creation. The students laughed hysterically as we traced, not so accurately, their bodies on craft paper. As we learn about different organs and systems, we will add them to their "bodies". We performed an egg drop experiment with plastic egg hunt eggs, raw eggs, and maple syrup to see observe how important the cerebrospinal fluid in protecting the brain.
