The Name Donum Dei

Donum Dei Classical Academy: A Gift of God

Donum Dei translates to Gift of God in Latin. We believe that God will use Donum Dei to bless Christian families in their stewardship of the gifts of children, time, money, and spiritual gifts

Children are a gift;

raise them in the Lord.

     “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.”

Deuteronomy 6:5-9, ESV

     “Don’t you see that children are God’s best gift? The fruit of the womb his generous legacy? Oh, how blessed are you parents, with your quivers full of children!”

Psalm 127:3-4, The Message

Time is a gift;

steward it well.

“So teach us to number our days, that we may present to You a heart of wisdom.”
Psalm 90:12, NASB

A child’s school-aged years are approximately 5,000 days. Your child will spend approximately 15,000 hours in school. How are you numbering your child’s days?

Donum Dei Classical Academy wants to help you steward your family’s time. We accomplish this in two ways: our balanced year-round schedule combined with our four-day and five-day options for the school week.

Over the course of the year, evenly dispersed breaks  give your family greater flexibility. See our year-round schedule here.

Money is a gift;

use yours wisely.

“The Lord will open for you His good storehouse, the heavens, to give rain to your land in its season and to bless all the work of your hand; and you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow.”
Deuteronomy 28:12, NASB

This is approximately how much San Franciscans invest annually on private schools, nearly double the comparative national averages:

  • Average SF Private Elementary School: $17,000 (The national average is $9,000)

  • Average SF Private High School: $26,000 (The national average is $14,000)

At other schools, parents also pay additional costs for options such as instrumental and chorus lessons, dance training, athletics, tutoring, field trips, museums, missions, summer camps, and childcare.

In contrast to these alternatives, Donum Dei Classical Academy seeks to provide an education that will nourish the whole human (with the above asterisked items included in tuition), implement the highest levels of academic excellence, and make a way for Christian families from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds to afford tuition.

We have spiritual gifts: share yours to edify the Church and build the Academy.

“For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one in body in Christ, and individually members of one another. Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.”
Romans 12:4-8, ESV

Donum Dei Classical Academy's leadership, faculty, parents, and students will have opportunities to use their God-given spiritual gifts to build up the body of Christ in San Francisco.
